The Home Minister, Mr. P Chidambaram, has urged the civil society to come forward to deal with the menace of dowry and violence against women. Launching a campaign titled 'Daughters against dowry’; Mr. Chidambaram said educated people should take the lead in this initiate. On the occasion of international day for elimination of violence against women which is being observed today, he said it is the individual who would bring the required change as no law or resolution will prove helpful without the cooperation of people. Speaking on the occasion, the Women and Child development Minister, Ms Krishna Tirath said her ministry is making all efforts to create awareness in the society against dowry and violence against women.
