New Delhi says, there is a growing understanding that the increase in terrorist acts in Afghanistan is linked to the support and sanctuaries available in the contiguous areas. Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao giving the concluding remarks at an international seminar on Afghanistan in New Delhi said that the international community should put effective pressure on Pakistan to implement its stated commitments to deal with terrorist groups within its territory including the members of Al-Qaeda, Taliban’s Quetta Shora, Hizb-e-Islami, Lashkar-e-Taiba and like-minded terrorist groups. She said that without this the gains made over the past eight years will be compromised and it will become difficult for rebuilding of Afghanistan. The Foreign Secretary said Afghanistan National Army should be properly trained to take care of their territory. India has already made up its mind to invest and endure because New Delhi believes in the cause of peace, democracy and development in Afghanistan. Talking to newsmen, the Foreign Secretary said that India has made its concern known to the highest authority in China on the issue of paper visas.
