In Punjab, Haryana and chandigarh the intermittent rain and hailstorm has brought mercury down in the region. Last evening, rain accompanied by thunderstorm and dusty winds led to chaos on the roads and tricity Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula plunged into darkness. The strong winds uprooted trees at many places and branches of tree fell on roads leading to traffic jams in several parts of the tricity. The electricity poles were also uprooted at several places leading to disruption of power supply.Met Office has predicted that thunderstorms accomapanied by light rains in next 24 hours. The forecast says strong winds may also blow across.
