Interim budget may see some change in tax rates: Chidambaram

Government has indicated that it may not pursue key reforms legislations due to lack of political consensus. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Monday said his vote-on-account budget to be presented in the Lok Sabha on 17th of this month.He said the forthcoming session would be an interim one and would accommodate proposals which do not require constitutional amendment.Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the finance minister said changes will be made in tax rates so that they do not require amendments to the laws.He said Insurance Bill not to come up in this Parliament session.Responding to a media query, the Minister said that the passage of SEBI bill would be top priority of the Government.
