Inter-state border patrol intensified as Chh'garh polls tomorrow for 3 LS seats

In Chhattisgarh, elaborate security arrangements are in place to ensure smooth polling in three Lok Sabha constituencies tomorrow, April 17.

Tribal Kanker, Mahasamund and Rajnandgaon constituencies going to the polls, are partially Maoist affected.

Our correspondent reports that amid Maoists killing 15 people after the first phase of polling in Bastar, security has been tightened to ensure smooth polling in three constituencies where Maoists have a presence.

Polling teams, escorted by heavy contingent of security forces, have been sent to polling booths located in sensitive and hypersensitive areas.

Polling process for 56 centres will be webcast live while arrangements have been made for videography of about 12 hundred polling stations in these three constituencies. About 700 micro observers have been deployed for the second phase of polling.

Security forces have intensified patrolling on inter-state border with Maharashtra and Odisha following intelligence inputs about possible Maoist movement in these areas.
