Intensified tree planting exercise begins in various parts of Western Ghats bordering Tamil Nadu on Wild Life Week

It is also notable that India is home to more than 3,000 tigers and about 30,000 elephants.<br />”<br />”An intensified tree planting exercise has been started today in various parts of the Western Ghats bordering Tamil Nadu today. As part of the exercise, various kinds of dioecious trees are being planted in the Cheekoor forest range areas today.<br />”<br />”Higher forest officials have also noted that the tree planting exercise is also an attempt to protect the fast dwindling vulture population in the Western Ghats. They point out that various parts of the Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu is home to at least four kinds of vultures which play a major role in ensuring the eco-balance in the forest.</span><br />
