There was no let up in the intense heat wave prevailing in northern
and eastern parts of the country with temperatures remaining above the
normal mark at most places. National capital, yesterday, recorded a
maximum of 45 degree Celsius, the highest temperature of this season
so far.
In Punjab and Haryana, people were forced to restrict themselves
indoors due to the sweltering heat. Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar,
Amritsar, Moga and other towns of Punjab reeled under the severe heat
wave. Met Office has predicted that similar weather condition will
prevail in the region for the next two days.
In Rajasthan, Sri Ganganagar was the hottest place at 47.4 degrees
celsius followed by Churu at 47.2 degrees.
In Uttarakhand, capital Dehradun recorded a high of 43.1 degrees
Celsius. The people in other towns like Haridwar and Udhamsingh Nagar
districts also sweltered in the scorching heat.
In Uttar Pradesh, the maximum temperature crossed 45 degrees Celsius
at many places. The met office has predicted further rise in
temperature in southern and central UP in the next 48 hours.
It was the third week of intense heat wave in Jharkhand with most of
its districts registering above 41 degree Celsius temperature. Garwha
continued to be the hottest place in the state with a maximum of 45
degrees Celsius yesterday.
