Intense cold is back again in parts of north India with temperature plummeting in Punjab and Haryana and fog engulfing Delhi hitting 25 flights and train services. The toll in cold wave this winter has gone up to 385. Poor visibility due to fog seems to have led to a train accident on Saturday morning in Tundla in Uttar Pradesh in which three persons were killed and 15 others wounded. This was the fourth fog-related train mishap in the state this fortnight. <br/><br/>After a temporary respite from biting cold for a couple of days, icy cold winds blew in Amritsar plunging the mercury to a low of 0.8 degree Celsius. Ludhiana recorded a low of 2.2 deg Celsius. Foggy weather conditions affected flight operations in Chandigarh. Jet Airways has suspended all its flights operating from Chandigarh till January 18.<br/><br/>In Haryana, biting cold swept Narnaul which recorded a minimum temperature at 2.3 deg Celsius, followed by Karnal at 2.8 degress. Ambala and Rohtak also experienced a cold night. <br/><br/>Banihal recorded a low of minus 1.3 deg C making it the coldest place in Jammu region today. Jammu had a low of 4.2 deg Celsius.<br/><br/>Temperature improved in Srinagar with the city recording minus 3.2 degrees, one degree above normal. Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir recorded minus 4.8 degrees . In the frontier region of Ladakh, there was no let up in the cold wave as Leh reeled under minus 19 deg Celsius and Kargil minus 14 degrees.<br/><br/>Cold conditions affected normal life in Rajasthan with Mount Abu being the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 0.4 degrees Celsius.<br/><br/>The weather improved further in the lower areas of Himachal Pradesh and Shimla recorded a night temperature of 8 deg C, a sharp rise from 4.5 deg C yesterday.<br/><br/> In Delhi, the minimum temperature dipped to 6.6 degrees Celsius against Friday’s 7.7 degrees, while the maximum temperature read 17.5 degrees.<br/><br/>Poor visibility due to fog seems to have led to a train accident this morning in Tundla in Uttar Pradesh in which three persons were killed and 15 others wounded.
