Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari, on Sunday announced that intelligent transport system would be started on NH-8 and a new access control highway would be constructed between Delhi and Jaipur, enabling the commuters to cover the 270-km distance in just two hours.<br/>Speaking in Gurgaon after laying the foundation stone of work on improvement of three junctions on NH-8 in Gurgaon, costing Rs. 1,005 crore , Mr Gadkari said that the work would be completed in 15 months. Detailing the intelligent transport system, he said that CCTV cameras would be installed on NH-8 to keep a close watch on the traffic movement, especially the violators. <br/>Referring to the new access control highway to be constructed between Delhi and Jaipur, Mr Gadkari said, this highway will cost Rs. 16,000 crore and work will be started in January, 2017. Land acquisition for the new highway will be started soon.
