Integrated Security Programme on running trains soon: Rail Minister

Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda has said that an Integrated Security
Programme will be fully implemented soon to improve the security system on running trains. Replying to supplementaries during question hour in the Rajya Sabha today, he said, around 200 security-sensitive stations including those in Maoist areas, have been identified so far
and work has already begun in 93 stations.

Stating that all steps will be taken to reduce crime on trains, the railway minister said the
government is in regular touch with the state governments for intelligence inputs.

He said escort is being provided to trains passing through the Maoist-infested areas when required.

He also said the three-tier security mechanism is in force on trains and 17,000
additional Railway Police Force personnel will be deployed by March next year.
