In West Bengal, 5 lakh landless people are being brought under the insurance scheme during the current fiscal year. This was stated by state Panchayat and Village Development Minister Anisur Raheman in Kolkata today at the Life Insurance Corporation’s social security month programme. He said despite that State Government bringing a large number of landless poor under the LIC’s scheme, all have not been included or covered under the scheme so far.
