Inspector General Donny Michael takes charge as Coast Guard Region (East) in a ceremonial parade

<span style="color: #333333;">Inspector General Donny Michael took over charge as Coast Guard Region (East) from Inspector General Anand Prakash Badola, President's Tatrakshak Medal (PTM),  in a ceremonial parade held at Coast Guard Air Station Chennai, on Tuesday.<br />''<br />''The new Regional Commander, Inspector General Donny Michael, joined the Indian Coast Guard in July 1990 after completing his graduation from Loyola College, Chennai. He  won awards for academic excellence at Indian Naval Academy and completed his specialist course in Navigation and Direction<br />''from Navigation Direction  School Kochi.<br />''<br />''The other qualifications are a Master in Maritime Affairs from World Maritime University, Sweden, a Search and Rescue Course from SAA, Singapore and he is a fellow of Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping, Mumbai.<br />''<br />'' The officer has held the command of the Inshore Patrol Vessel Ahalyabai and Fast patrol vessel Savitribai Phule, the first indigenously built Pollution Control Vessel named Samudra Prahari and the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel ICGS Sarang.<br />''<br />''The  Inspector General shouldered the responsibilities of Deputy Director General (HRD) and Deputy Director General (Coast Guard Officers Selection Board) at the Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi.<br />''<br />'' He was awarded the Coast Guard Gallantry Medal for saving a burning merchant vessel near Mumbai in Sep 2012.</span>
