Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar informed the Lok Sabha today that INS Viraat will be preserved as a museum after it is decommissioned by this year-end. <br/><br/>The Centre has requested all coastal State governments to give their firm commitment to preserve the aircraft carrier after it ceases to be in service. In reply to a question, Mr Parrikar ruled out any proposal to strengthen the country's coastal security with French support.
