INS Nishank and Akshay decommissioned after rendering 32 years of glorious service

<span style="color: #222222;">Indian Naval Ships (INS)-'Nishank' and 'Akshay' were decommissioned after rendering 32 years of glorious service to the nation. The ceremony was conducted at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai yesterday wherein the National Flag, Naval Ensign and Decommissioning Pennant of the two ships were lowered for the last time at sunset.<br />''<br />''INS Nishank and INS Akshay were constructed and commissioned at Poti Shipyard in present-day Georgia. They were in active naval service for more than 32 years and participated in a number of naval operations including Operation Talwar during the Kargil War and Operation Parakram that was launched consequent to the Parliament attack in 2001. <br />''<br />''INS Nishank, 4th of Veer Class Missile Corvette Killers, will be displayed at a historic location as a war relic. In a statement, the Navy said that the ships will continue to motivate future generations to be part of glorious past and bright future, showcasing the might of the Indian Navy. Veterans, who served on these ships, attended the decommissioning event along with their families. </span><br />
