The Indian Navy's guided missile destroyer INS Chennai has been dedicated today to the city whose name it bears. It was dedicated in accordance with the tradition of the Navy at a function on-board the ship by Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy. <br/><br/>In his address, the chief minister asked for ensuring safety of the state fishermen mid-sea so that they could carry on with their traditional occupation peacefully. <br/><br/>The Eastern Naval Command's Flag Officer in Chief Vice Admiral HCS Bisht said, Chennai would be made an alternate hub for naval activities by the Eastern Command of the maritime Defence Force.
