Inquiry ordered into overage issue of Indian Athletes in Asian Youth Games in Nanjing

Sports Minister Jitendra Singh has ordered an inquiry into the over age issue of Athletes in the ongoing Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China. According to media reports, 17 Indian track and field athletes were not allowed to participate in the Games for being above the stipulated age of 17 years. Mr. Singh has also taken note of similar media reports about 4 Indian badminton players returning back as their names did not figure in the entry list at the games.'He has asked Director General of Sports Authority of India, SAI to conduct an inquiry into both the incidents and fix the responsibility on the individuals responsible for the lapses. The Minister also directed DG, SAI to put in place a mechanism so that such incidents do not occur in future.
