Inquiry ordered in MP train derailment, says Suresh Prabhu in LS

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said an inquiry has been ordered to find the cause of the derailment of Kamayani and Janta Express last night. The minister said, 12 passengers have died 25 others were injured. However, another report says at least 20 people were killed. Making a suo moto statement in both the Houses of Parliament today, Mr Prabhu said Commissioner of Railway Safety will conduct the inquiry. He, however, said flash floods due to heavy rain is the prima facie cause of the incident. <br/><br/>The minister said helpline numbers have been set up at all important locations and Railways have been instructed to take all precautions in flood affected areas. Mr Prabhu said accident relief trains along with accident relief medical van was immediately dispatched from Itarsi. He informed both the Houses that an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees will be given to the next of the kin of deceased and 50 thousand rupees to the seriously injured passengers.
