The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu has said that innovations must be oriented towards rural development, keeping in view the welfare of rural community. <br/><br/>Addressing a workshop on 'Frugal Innovations' in Hyderabad today he said, appropriate rural technologies should be energy efficient, eco friendly, sustainable and cost effective to meet the needs of people. He emphasized on the need for exploiting traditional knowledge for rural development, which is need of the hour. <br/><br/>He felt that every solution to the problems of rural people should be addressed taking into consideration of their local, economic, social and geographical issues. Frugal Innovations and technologies should be helpful in improving the living standards of people the minister added. <br/><br/>Mr Naidu said that due to increased urbanisation, people are exposed to problems as such urban amenities should be provided to rural areas to slow down the urbanisation.
