Innovation Eco Systems will be created in 40 Industrial clusters. This decision was taken at the second meeting of National Innovation Council held in New Delhi. The scheme will be introduced initially in 15 of these clusters. The Council headed by Sam Pitroda also took the decision to identify universities in these clusters for the setting up of innovation centres to provide a platform for various stakeholders. The Council also discussed proposals for encouraging the Members of Parliament to give push to the innovation drive in their constituencies by giving incentives and awards. The Council is also contemplating of earmarking National Innovation Day and Television Reality Show on Innovations. According to an official release there has been a positive response from several stakeholders to the proposal of Setting up State level Innovation Councils. These councils will prepare a roadmap for innovations in identified sectors for the next decade by involving experts and other stakeholders.
