INLD Chief Chautala supports women reservation bill

Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Chief, Om Prakash Chautala while supporting the Women Reservation Bill has called upon the Centre to make it a law and ask every party to give 33 per cent reservation to women in their respective Vidhan Sabha’s so that any doubts regarding the bill among various political parties should get cleared by themselves.

The former Chief Minister of Haryana said that Govt should enact a law empowering the Election Commission to cancel any political party’s constitutional recognition if that party is not providing the 33 per cent reservation to women.

Chautala, who was in Jalandhar today at ‘Meet the Press’ in Punjab Press Club said that the SYL is no issue between Punjab and Haryana as the Supreme Court has already given its decision in this case. It is for the Centre now to intervene and get it implemented.

About Haryana Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee, Chautala said that it directly relates to Sikh community and no political party should interfere or play politics on it.

Chautala said the credit for making Punjabi as second language in Haryana goes to his party and not to the Congress as it was during his party’s tenure in the year 2004 that the stage was set to give Punjabi the status of second language. However, INLD could not enact it because of Code of Conduct in view of assembly elections in the state.
