Injured Murali Vijay ruled out of first Test against Sri Lanka

Indian opener Murali Vijay has been ruled out of the first cricket Test against Sri Lanka with a hamstring injury. In his absence from the game beginning at Galle on Wednesday, India are likely to open with Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul. Team director Ravi Shastri said in a media interaction today that Vijay is not completely fit and India does not want to take a chance with weather like this and slippery outfield. Indian team will miss Vijay's experience, Ravi Shastri said. In the recent past, Vijay has been the most consistent batsman for India with successful outings in England, Australia and Bangladesh. In 32 Tests, Vijay has scored 2,338 runs with an average of 41.75 and six centuries.
