Infrastructure being developed in Goa to increase income of farmers, fishermen: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said infrastructure is being developed in Goa which will help in increasing the income of farmers and fishermen. The Prime Minister was addressing an event in Goa after interacting with beneficiaries and stakeholders of the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa' programme through video conferencing today.<br />''<br />''He said, Goa's fund for modernization of rural infrastructure has been increased five fold this year, compared to earlier. The Prime Minister said incentives are being given at every level from various ministries for modernization of fishermen's boats. He added that the fishermen in Goa are getting a lot of help under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana also. Mr Modi said, Goa has the potential to emerge as a power hub in the fish processing sector. <br />''<br />''He said, in the past seven years, his government has introduced a range of facilities for the fishermen community of the country like Navy Cap and Kisan Credit Cards to grow beyond the raw produce market and move into the processing side of the business in order to make them self-reliant.<br />''<br />''The Prime Minister emphasized that the government is undertaking several schemes like Ujjwala, Swachch Bharat, PM Awas Yojna and Jan Dhan Yojna to enhance dignity and confidence of the women.<br />''<br />''Mr. Modi calls for utilizing the huge tourism potential of Goa. He said, tourism potential in the State is vast and with larger connectivity after the second airport and other projects, Goa will march ahead with more vigour.<br />''<br />''Earlier, during his interaction with a beneficiary, the Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of administrators in training self help groups. He said Self Help Groups can do a lot more to serve society. Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, the Prime Minister is constantly giving all support and assistance to Goa.<br />
