Infra sector growth slips to 5-month low at 2.8% in May

Growth in the country's infrastructure sectors slowed to a five-month low of 2.8 per cent in May this year.Production of crude oil declined 3.3 per cent in May this year, while natural gas output fell 6.9 per cent during the month.Output of refinery products grew 1.2 percent in May, cement output rose 2.4 per cent, and electricity generation increased 4.6 per cent during the month. Growth in coal output was 5.5 per cent in May, fertiliser output surged 14.8 percent and steel output rose 3.2 per cent during the month.During the two months, April and May 2016, output of the eight core infrastructure sectors grew 5.5 per cent.
