Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy has expressed concern over the poor quality of education and research in the information technology sector.<br />'' <br />'' Delivering the Dr. N Sheshagiri Memorial lecture in New Delhi today, Mr Murthy said, the IT industry has a greater potential to contribute to the country's growth. He advised that the Industry and engineering colleges should collaborate to produce a better quality of professionals. <br />'' <br />'' Mr Murthy said, the industry should come forward to fund the training and research in the IT sector. <br />'' <br />'' He suggested that education in the country should move towards critical thinking, learnability and problem-solving. <br />'' <br />'' He suggested that the country should do away with the teachers' monologue type of learning and promote discussion-based education.<br />''  <br />'' Mr Murthy also emphasized the need for good learning of the English language for the IT professionals. <br />'' <br />'' He said, while all other languages must be promoted, English should be the basic of the IT industry. <br />'' <br />'' Remembering his close association with founder Director General of National Informatics Center (NIC) Dr. Seshagiri, Mr Murthy described him as a combination of academic excellence, administrative acumen and a sense of quick decision making.<br />'' <br />'' Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Information Technology Sanjay Dhotre said, NIC is working towards achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Digital India.<br />'' <br />'' The programme was organised by the National Informatics Center, NIC. <br />''  <br />
