Information Secretary Highlights Changing Landscape of Media and Entertainment at India Digital Summit

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju, while addressing the 18th India Digital Summit in Mumbai, highlighted that the media and entertainment sector is witnessing rapid change due to accessibility through smartphones and data. The Secretary informed that 60 OTT platforms operate in India and many are in regional languages.<br />''<br />''Mentioning the role of the government, Mr Jaju said that the government's role is to enable the industry and give a level playing field for the industry players. The Secretary emphasized that the government's policy should come from the demand side as what the industry requires which will help it grow.<br />''<br />''The Secretary said that the media and entertainment sector is a vast sector. The film segment is also growing phenomenally. Mr Jaju stated that the film facilitation centre provides single window clearance for the industry players and promotes Film production in the country.<br />''<br />''Mr Jaju mentioned that the country is developing its digital strength through the Digital India initiative. The government also launched a digital advertisement policy.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Earlier, the Information and Broadcasting secretary visited the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) office in Mumbai and reviewed the work. He also met film industry bodies, studios, and associations and discussed various industry issues.</span><br />
