Inflationary pressures still visible in manufacturing sector: Pranab

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said that food inflation has come down drastically but inflationary pressures are still visible in the manufacturing sector. Talking to reporters in Chandigarh, he blamed the spiraling global crude oil prices in fueling inflationary pressures in India. Mr. Mukherjee said that imported inflation will depend upon how International crude oil prices will behave in future. He also applauded the Reserve Bank for cutting the Cash Reserve Ratio, CRR in its quarterly review of monetary policy on Tuesday. He said, the RBI correctly made a balance in its policy by reducing CRR from 6 per cent to 5.5 per cent which will improve liquidity for banking sector to meet demand and supply.
