Inflation will come down after mid July, says Pranab

Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said inflation will come down after mid July. Talking to reporters in Patna, Mr Mukherji said, though the rising rate of inflation is a matter of concern, it will definitely come down after the monsoon. He also ruled out any change in the interest rate of banks. <br/><br/>Taking stock of banks performance on credit- deposit ratio with the chief ministers and representative of Eastern and Norh eastern states of the country Finance Minister asked them for optimum utilization of large untapped potential of East and North east region for expending the developmental activities. Mr. Mukherjee said that this region is gateway of our India's look East Policy and has huge potential.<br/><br/>Mr Mukherji stated that he looked for the support of the state governments in provision of infrastructure facilities,connectivity and secured environment to achieve the target under financial inclusion. He also requested state governments to monitor the achievement of these targets through regular reviews at the highest levels in the state level bankers committee meetings.<br/><br/>AIR Patna correspondent reports that this was the first meeting which was being held with state chief ministers outside Delhi with a view to getting their feedback on various developmental schemes which the central government has been funding the states.
