Inflation rises to (-)1.99% in November

The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation has risen to minus (-)1.99% for the month of November from minus (-)3.81 per cent in October. This is the 13th month in a row when the wholesale inflation has remained in the negative territory. <br/>According to latest release by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Food inflation shot up to 5.20 per cent in November, as against 2.44 per cent in October. Inflation in pulses and onion stood at 58 per cent and 53 per cent, respectively. The rate of price rise in case of vegetables was 14 per cent during November.<br/><br/>Inflation in fuel and power segment was (-)11.09 per cent, while for manufactured products it was (-)1.42 per cent in November.<br/><br/>The data of CPI-based retail inflation is expected later toady. In October, CPI inflation was 5 per cent.<br/><br/>Earlier this month, RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan had left the key interest rate unchanged in view of rise in retail inflation and the likelihood of capital outflows on a possible US Fed rate hike around mid-December.

Inflation rises to (-)1.99% in November

The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation has risen to minus (-)1.99% for the month of November from minus (-)3.81 per cent in October. According to latest official release by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, WPI for All Commodities for November rose by 0.5 percent in November over the previous month.<br/><br/>WPI for 'Food Articles' group rose by 2.3 percent while that for 'Non-Food Articles' group rose by 0.5 percent. The index for 'Minerals' group declined by 2.2 mainly due to lower price of iron ore. It rose in 'Fuel & Power' sector by 0.9 percent while the manufactured products have become slightly cheaper by 0.2% in November as compared to the previous month.<br/><br/>Build up inflation rate in this financial year so far is 0.85% compared to 0.50% in the corresponding period of the previous year.
