The Union Minister of State for Coal, Statistics and Programme Implementation, Sriprakash Jaiswal has said that Inflation and price rise are a global phenomenon and other countries, including the US, are also being adversly affected by them. Mr. Jaiswal said that it was due to the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that India survived unscathed from global recession. He also mentioned that increasing purchasing power of the people has added fuel to the price rise. He said that the state governments should take necessary steps to curb black marketeers and holders to contain the price rise.
