Inflation at (-)3.81% in October; Pulses, onion expensive

Wholesale inflation stood at minus 3.81 per cent in October this year, compared to minus 4.54 percent in September, as pulses, vegetables and onions turning costlier. This is the 12th month in a row that wholesale price inflation has remained in the negative zone. Wholesale inflation had stood at 1.66 percent in October last year. Inflation in pulses stood at 52.98 per cent, and in onions at 85.66 per cent in October. Inflation in vegetables was 2.56 per cent, according to official data. But inflation in potatoes was minus 58.95 per cent. While wholesale inflation rate in the fuel and power segment stood at minus 16.32 percent, while in manufactured products it was minus 1.67 per cent in October. Inflation for August has been revised upwards to minus 5.06 percent, from the provisional estimate of minus 4.95 per cent.
