Industry Associations welcome interim budget

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has termed the budget as a balanced one which is portraying a realistic picture of the economic situation in the country. On the social networking site twitter, Dr. Singh said that the Finance Minister has aptly summarized the economic and social achievements of the last 10 years of the UPA government . He said that the issue of One Rank One Pension has been addressed comprehensively and expressed confidence that Armed Forces, Officers and Jawans will welcome this.Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh has welcomed the announcement of 'one rank – one pension' for defence personnel. Reacting over the budget, Mr Singh demanded for setting up a separate Finance Commission for defence forces. Mr Singh alleged that making some policy announcements , the Finance Minister has not fulfilled the traditions for presenting interim budget.Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has hailed the Government for its decision on one rank-one pension for Defence personnel. Terming the decision as historic Mr Gandhi thanked the UPA Government, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. He said that Army personnel should always feel that the government supports them fully and this is the sentiment of UPA Government. CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury has termed the interim general budget as populist and has said that bitter pills for better financial conditions have been left for the next government. Talking to media persons, Mr Yechury said that the interim budget has been prepared in view of next Lok Sabha elections.Industry body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, FICCI, has hailed the Budget as progressive and meant to contain fiscal deficit, current account deficit, CAD, and inflation as well. Talking to media in New Delhi today, FICCI President Sidharth Birla said the Finance Minister's calculated measures to boost manufacturing was heartening to hear as the sector has pivotal role to propel economy.ASSOCHAM President Rana Kapoor has said that despite low expectation in an election year the budget has given a surprise at least partly to the manufacturing sector. He said that excise duty cut on automobiles and capital goods will provide a much needed relief to sectors.
