Industrial production grows up by 3.4% in April after contraction for two months in a row

Raising hopes of an economic turnaround, the country's industrial production grew by 3.4 per cent in April this year after witnessing contraction for two months in a row. According to the information released by the Central Statistics Office, manufacturing output grew by 2.6 per cent and production of capital goods surged 15.7 per cent in April. Power generation witnessed an impresive 11.9 per cent increase and the mining sector grew by 1.2 per cent during the month. However, the output of the consumer goods sector declined by 5.1 per cent in April this year.
