Industrial production grew 2 percent, year-on-year, in February, this year, after contracting for three straight months, suggesting economic recovery.Factory output measured in terms of the index of industrial production, had declined 1.5 per cent in January this year, and grown 4.8 per cent in February last year. Data released by the Central Statistics Office showed that the output of consumer durable goods grew 9.7 percent in February, the manufacturing sector grew 0.7 per cent, mining output rose 5 percent, and power generation increased 9.6 percent in February this year. But capital goods output, a barometer of investment growth, contracted 9.8 per cent in February, and the consumer non-durable segment contracted 4.2 percent.
