The Industrial growth slowed down to 5.6 per cent in August. It was 10.4 per cent in the same month of the previous fiscal. However, the cumulative growth in industrial production for the first five months of the current financial year showed an increase of 10.6 per cent as compared to the corresponding period last year. The industrial production last month was 13.8 per cent. According to the quick estimates of industrial production officially released in New Delhi today, the cumulative growth from April to August was 11.3 per cent in manufacturing , 9.4 per cent in mining while the growth in electricity was 4.3 per cent over the corresponding period last fiscal. In terms of industries 14 out of the 17 industry groups showed positive growth in the month of August.
