Industrial Employment Standing Orders Central Rules amended

Central government has amended industrial employment standing orders Central rules to provide flexibility to the employers to meet the challenges of globalization, new practices and methods of doing businesses. <br/><br/>This step would also benefit the workers as their working conditions including social security and other benefits would be at par with the regular employees. <br/><br/>Under the new rules notified today a new term of fixed term employment in apparel manufacturing sector has been incorporated. A fixed term employment is a workman who has been engaged on the basis of contract of employment for a fixed period but his working hours, wages and other benefits will not be less than that of the permanent workman. He shall also be eligible for all statutory benefits proportionately according to the period of service rendered by him. <br/><br/>The notification said, no temporary workman, whether monthly rated, weekly rated or piece rated and probationer or Badli or fixed term employment workman in apparel sector will be entitled to any notice or pay in lieu thereof if his services are terminated as a result of non-renewal of contract or employment or on its expiry. <br/><br/>However, his services will not be terminated as a punishment without giving him an opportunity of explaining the charges of misconduct allege against him.
