Indonesia says, it supports the peaceful transition towards democracy in Libya following the downfall of Muammar Gaddafi. Jakarta Post today quoted Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa as saying that Indonesia supports the National Transitional Council in Libya in carrying out the peaceful transition towards democracy.The Minister said, the democratic transition must reflect the wishes and aspirations of Libyan people. According to the Jakarta Post, the statement from the Indonesian foreign minister came after Libyan National Transitional Council chairman Mustafa Abdel Jalil vowed at a meeting in Paris on September 1st that the Council would put forward suggestions on a new Constitution and hold general elections within the next 18 months.
