Indo-Pak World T20 clash shifted to Kolkata from Dharamsala

The World Twenty20 clash between India and Pakistan has been shifted to Kolkata from Dharamsala in view of security concerns. After days of hectic activities and inspection by a Pakistan security delegation, the ICC finally announced today the relocation of the match scheduled to be played on 19th of this month. ICC Chief Executive Officer Dave Richardson announced this at a press conference in New Delhi. He said, the ICC have conveyed the relocation of the match to the Pakistan Cricket Board. PCB had yesterday written to ICC asking to consider an alternative venue for the match. The match ran into trouble after the Himachal Pradesh government expressed its inability to provide security for the match following protests by ex-servicemen and the kith and kin of slain martyrs of Pathankot and Pampore terror attack. Richardson also made it clear that if Pakistan made it to the semifinals, they will not play in Mumbai, which is scheduled to host one semifinal. PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan welcomed the decision but said Pakistan government has kept the team's departure on hold awaiting an assurance from the Indian government. Richardson said the onus now was on Pakistan to send the team since their apprehensions have been addressed.
