Indo-Nepal JTE meeting concludes

15th Meeting of India-Nepal Joint Team of Experts (JTE) on Sapta Kosi High Dam Multipurpose Project and Sun Kosi Storage-cum-Diversion Scheme concluded at Kathmandu on Wednesday. <br/><br/>During the two day meeting progress made and follow-up action taken so far since last meeting were reviewed. Progress made in environmental impact assessment studies; resettlement and rehabilitation plan; design flood studies; Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) studies; power potential studies; power system and power evacuation studies and drilling activities at the Sapta Kosi High Dam site were also reviewed. <br/><br/>JTE recommended extension of time of Joint Project Office of Sapta Kosi Sun Kosi Investigation for a period of 30 months from 1st March, 2017. Various administrative matters were also discussed in the meeting. Nepalese team was led by Nabin Raj Singh, Director General, Department of Electricity Development and the Indian side was led by Pradeep Kumar, Member (River Management), Central Water Commission. It was decided to hold next JTE meeting in February 2018.
