Indo-French partnership on Environment will set an example for rest of the world, says Environment Minister

<span style="color: #222222;">Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar today launched the Indo-French year of Environment with his French counterpart Ms. Barbara Pompili. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Javadekar said, the Indo-French partnership on Environment, Biodiversity, Climate Change and other allied areas will set an example for the rest of the world. He said, India and France have environment projects already underway in Assam, Rajasthan and a project to be started soon in Jharkhand. He said, Year 2021 will witness enhanced cooperation in sustainable development, increasing the effectiveness of actions in favor of global environment protection.<br />''<br />''Mr Javadekar said, India has made significant progress towards climate change action and has already achieved 26 per cent of reduction of emission intensity. He said, as of 2020 the renewable capacity in India stands at 90 Giga Watt which includes 36 Giga Watt of solar energy and 38 Giga Watt of wind energy. He further added that India looks forward to strengthening the Indo-French cooperation in sustainable development, increasing the effectiveness of actions in favor of global environment protection and giving them greater visibility.</span><br />
