Indo-China expert level meet on cross border water issue begins

A 5 day expert level meeting between representatives of India and China begins in New Delhi on Sunday to discuss cross border water issues. <br/> <br/>Replying supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, External Affairs Minister Mr S M Krishna said that other important issues will also come up for discussion in the meeting. <br/> <br/>Replying to a question on a dam being built on river Brahmputra in Chinese territory, he said that Chinese Foreign Minister has assured India that it will not have any impact on downstream areas. <br/> <br/>The Minister informed the members since there are some concerns on the boundary issue, special representatives of the two countries have been authorised to discuss it. <br/> <br/>The Minister said, the relation between the two countries are improving and the President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her message on the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries noted that close cooperation is conducive to peace and stability in Asia and world. <br/> <br/>She reiterated that India looks forward to continue working closely with China in taking bilateral relations to new levels. <br/><br/>
