Issues related Border management , combating terrorism , curbing activities of Northeast militants , infiltration, and enhanced cooperations between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries are high on the agenda of the home secretary-level talks between India and Bangladesh which begin in New Delhi Monday afternoon.<br/><br/>The Indian delegation will be led Home Secretary Gopal Krishna Pillai, while the five-member Bangladesh delegation, headed by Abdus Sobhan Sikder .<br/><br/>AIR correspondent says that the three-day talks assume significance as they come ahead of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's India visit next month.<br/><br/>With realisation dawning on the Sheikh Hasina government about the need for fighting extremism and terrorism that is huge issue concern in the region, the Indian side is hopeful to get cooperation from Dhaka by way of cracking down on militant groups and north east insurgent elements operating from its soil.<br/><br/>The Indian side is expected to ask the Bangladesh to take steps for handing over of jailed northeast militants like ULFA general secretary Anup Chetia.<br/><br/>Illegal immigration from Bangladesh is another issue that has been nagging the bilateral ties for quite some times and this is expected to be taken up at the discussions.<br/><br/>Issues like smuggling of narcotics, illegal poaching of wild animals and natural resources along the border areas by Bangladeshi elements and chalking out a strategy on dealing with these and other transborder problems are expected to be discusse thread bare at the talks.
