Indo- Bangla Home Secretary level talks begin in Dhaka

The 13th round of Home Secretary Level talks between India and Bangladesh began this morning in Dhaka. Home Secretary R.K Singh is leading a delegation comprising senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, BSF, Narcotics Control Bureau and External
Affairs during the talks with the Bangladesh delegation which is being led by his counterpart, C.Q.K Mushtaq Ahmed.
Earlier yesterday evening, the India-Bangladesh Joint Working group on Security, meeting in Dhaka, concluded with both sides finalising the agenda for the Home Secretary level talks. Both sides are expected to discuss steps to further strengthen co-operation on security issues which include additional measures to tackle smuggling of narcotics, fake Indian currency notes, human trafficking, issues related to the handing over of ULFA leader Anup Chetia to India, action against insurgent groups still operating in Bangladesh, upgradation of infrastructure at land customs stations and early conclusion of an extradition treaty.
Both the Home Secretaries are expected to sign a joint record of discussions and brief the media later in the evening today on the decisions taken during the talks. The two Home Secretaries had visited the Agartala-Akhaura Land Custom stations on the India-Bangladesh border with the state of Tripura yesterday to review the status of the infrastructure at the integrated check-post.
