Indo- Bangla Foreign Office consultaions on in New Delhi

India and Bangladesh are holding comprehensive discussions on bilateral issues in New Delhi today. These include cooperation in political and security related matters, border management, counter-terrorism, trade and investment and water resources. The two countries are also holding their Foreign Office Consultations, FOC, under which both sides are discussing power cooperation including renewable energy, connectivity, development cooperation and increasing people-to-people contacts. An External Affairs Ministry release says that Indian side is led by Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai while his counterpart Mohamed Mijarul Quayes is leading the Bangladeshi side.
During the FOC, both sides are reviewing progress in bilateral relations. They are also discussing a range of areas to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries. Our correspondent reports that the decision to hold the FOC was taken during the first meeting of India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission, which was held in May this year at New Delhi.
