Indirect tax collections grow by over 46 per cent

The indirect tax collections have grown by over 46 per cent in the first four months of the current fiscal. According to an official release, this is mainly due to picking up of economic activity in July. The total indirect tax from April to July is over 96, 200 crores. The highest growth was recorded in the custom collections, which recorded a quantum jump of over 70 per cent. Indirect taxes include customs duty levied on imports, excise duty on goods manufactured and service tax and the robust collections point at strong economic activity spreading across all the important manufacturing and services sector.
