Indirect tax collection rises 25.9 percent

Indirect tax collections in the first six months in the current fiscal have shown an increase of 25.9 percent over the net collections for the corresponding period last year. <br/><br/>Total Central Excise, Service Tax and Customs tax collections as on 30th of last month stood at 4.08 lakh crore rupees. Finance Ministry in an official release said, 52.5 percent of the Budget Estimates of indirect taxes for 2016-17 has been achieved so far.<br/><br/> Central Excise tax collections stood at 1.83 lakh crore rupees during April-September, 2016 as against 1.25 lakh crore rupees during the corresponding period in the previous Financial Year, registering a growth of 46.3 percent.<br/><br/> Net Tax collections on account of Service Tax during April-September, 2016 were 1.16 crore rupees as compared to 95,780 crore rupees during the corresponding period in the previous fiscal. <br/>Customs tax collections during April-September 2016 stood at 1.08 lakh crore rupees as compared to 1.03 lakh crore rupees during the same period in the previous Financial Year.
