In Nepal, all passengers of an Indigo Airlines plane from Delhi are safe though it caught fire while landing at Kathmandu airport today. 182 people were on on board but no one was hurt.
The Airbus A320 was taxiing at the tarmac when wheel number 4 of the main landing gear suddenly caught fire . General Manager of the airport Rishikesh Sharma said that the fire was immediately doused with the help of a fire engine stationed at the airport. All passengers were evacuated through an emergency exit.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the sparks occurred due to heavy braking during landing. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation sources said this could have led to a hydraulic leak. DGCA will conduct a full fledged inquiry.
