A total of 277.81 lakh hectare wheat has been sown compared to last year's coverage of 275.89 lakh hectare as data received from different states. It has registered around 2 lakh more area of wheat coverage till 12 th of this month . According to official sources,higher area coverage of wheat has been reported in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand while less coverage has taken place in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. An estimated 32.35 lakh hectare of rice has been sown which is 0.17 lakh hectare les than last year coverage area till date. There is a significant increase of about 8 lakh hectare area under pulses which was 132 hectare last year.
