Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences M Rajeevan today said that weather forecast system has improved significantly in the past few years. <br />” <br />” Addressing the gathering on the occasion of celebration of 145th foundation day of India Meteorological Department-IMD in New Delhi, he said, this improvement came due to a lot of investment by IMD in observation systems related to forecasting. <br />” <br />” He said,the IMD is using latest technologies, radars and computers at weather forecast centres to disseminate more accurate data. <br />” <br />” Mr Rajeevan said that India is also providing weather services to other countries including Regional South Asian countries and also have collaboration with other countries.<br />” <br />” Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology Prof Ashutosh Strivastava stressed on the need to use of new technology in the weather forecasting.<br />” <br />” IMD Director General M Mohapatra also highlighted the some of initiatives and achievements of the department.<br />”
