Reserve Bank of India,RBI, Governor Raghuram Rajan today said India's tradition of debate and an open spirit of enquiry is critical for economic progress. Speaking at IIT Delhi, Mr Rajan said tolerance could take offense out of debate. He said bans can't be a quick resort, it is better to improve environment for ideas through tolerance and mutual respect. Mr Rajan said excessive political correctness stifles progress as much as excessive licence and disrespect.
