India's pulse production has increased: Pawar

The production of total pulses have been increased in the country. It has increased to 14.20 million tones during 2006-07 to 18.24 million tones during 2010-11 .It is around four million tones higher. This was informed by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. He said in order to enhance the production and productivity of pulses in the country, National Food Security Mission-Pulses, NFSM-Pulses is being implemented since 2007-08. Presently, NFSM-Pulses is under implementation in 468 districts of 16 States. Under the programme, assistance is being provided for seed production, seed distribution and Integrated Nutrient Management.
